Today,
Lance Whitney from
CNET posted an article highlighting a recent study of market trends in mobile phone sales. The study claims that by 2016, Windows Phone platform could rise above Apple's iOS platform in total mobile sales. It is a long-term projection based upon past trends and the advances Windows has made in the mobile market. It seems that much of the speculation rests upon recent sales of the Nokia Lumia which is running the Windows Phone platform.

Personally I think it is way too soon to tell how Windows Phone will hold up long-term. Sure, the Lumia has garnered a decent reception, but in my opinion Android and Apple will be the kings of the mobile market for many years to come.

Yeah, I can't see the windows phone overtaking iOS any time soon.
ReplyDeleteI mean, I realized that a lot can happen in 4 years, but I still don't think that is enough time for them to make the advances they'd have to make to really start eating up market share.
DeleteI think it could easily take over honestly. I mean look at how many people dislike Apple and are just waiting for an alternative. Of course the alternative needs to be worth actually buying. We'll see I guess.
ReplyDeleteI have disliked Apple for years. While I completely agree that for graphics/video/music production they really are hard to beat, I think their products are for the most part over-hyped and over-priced. That being said, I have owned several iPhones. I am currently using my backup phone which is an iPhone 3GS and I have very few complaints about it. It is a solid phone that is super user-friendly. But, when my contract is up, I'm going back to an Android as my daily user. I just like them more as a personal preference.

ReplyDeletePretty much agree with it being too early. It's also too early to tell if iPhone or Android won't advance dramatically and leave Windows in the dust anyway.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Android and Apple have definitely been more innovative in the mobile market than Windows. I don't see that changing anytime soon.
