The Pathfinder School

Ok, so this isn't what you would normally find on a "geek/tech/whatever" blog, but survival and preparedness is something that I have been passionate about for a long time. As a geek I tend to obsess about things and survival is one of those things I rabidly obsess over.

Some of you may have seen a television show called Dual Survival on the Discovery Channel recently that stars a man named Dave Canterbury. Dave owns and operates a survival school called The Pathfinder School. His school is based out of Ohio but he does survival classes all over the country. I would highly recommend checking out his website. There is a lot of great information there.

  1. It's funny, a lot of tech-heads I know (geeks, basically) are usually very prepared for when the poop hits the fan.
I really hate the Dual Survivor show, but if I had the cash for survival school, I would like to learn some tricks. I mean, the proper way (in my mind) of having someone show you, able to correct your mistakes. Not print-outs from on-line. :)

  3. I like the concept of the show. Two guys with VASTLY different ideas of survival being forced to work together. Dave and Cody are both extremely capable survivalists. I would love to go to either of their schools. Cody is much more aligned with the "spiritual" side of survival while Dave is more practical in his approach.

    Thanks for reading!

  4. Sorry, roguez. While this is in essence a "geek" blog, I will from time to time post things that interest me. As RR said, there are lots of geeks that are into preparedness. Maybe not to the extent that I am, but I am sure there are more of us.

  7. @MagerFromTha619, shooting a bow is a lot of fun. I've shot competitively, for fun, and in a hunting situation for several years. It is a very relaxing past time. I recommend it for anyone.
